Arthritis affects your dog’s activities and behavior. He can never be as enthusiastic and as playfull as before because the onset of arthritis is making him feel pain.
Dog arthritis can either be an osteoarthritis or an infection of skeletal joints, an immune-mediated arthritis, an inflammatory arthritis, or an idiopathic arthritis. This illness can be caused by factors such as trauma injury that cause extreme joint fracture or dislocation, obesity, improper bone, skeletal and joint development when the dog was still a puppy, and it can also be due to old age, where the risk for immunosuppression and infection is elevated.

- exert more effort to stand,sit and move
- licking his joints
- stiffness in affected areas
When you try to press hard onto his swollen joints, he will almost certainly yelp. That will signify that arthritis has started to take its toll.
Aside from these obvious signs of the disease, you can also reaffirm the diagnosis by bringing him to the vet clinic for some inspections and checks to be done. This will probably be an X-ray or some other radiography exams that is able to tell the extent of infection or damage to his skeletal structure. The veterinarian may also conduct a procedure to examine his joint fluids, the absence of reduction of which, would be a clear sign of arthritis.
